Romantic Killer to Receive Anime Adaptation, Arriving on Netflix on October 27

An anime adaptation of the Romantic Killer manga by Wataru Momose is currently in production. The animation for the online anime will be done by DOMERICA, and it will be made available worldwide via Netflix on October 27. The anime’s lead roles have also been cast, with Rie Takahashi playing Anzu Hoshino and Mikako Komatsu playing Riri. The series will be directed by Kazuya Ichikawa, with screenplays written by Ryo Kawasaki and Tomoyuki Kono. Character designs are being handled by Arisa Matsuura.

“It was amazing to see how many people, including the director and scriptwriters, were involved in the story that was initially created by one person… And I’m not familiar with voice actors, so I threw out a list of candidates. “Netflix was too serious and chose too many talented people, which made me laugh,” said Momose about how the voice actors and staff for the anime were chosen.

There’s also a teaser trailer out there:

From July 30, 2019, until June 2, 2020, the Romantic Killer was serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website. Viz Media has licensed the manga for translation into English, and their summary describes how Anzu, unwillingly, befriends Tsukasa Kazuki so that she can return to her “normal” life. He’s one of the school’s most attractive and well-liked boys, and it gets worse: she begins to suspect that he’s actually not a completely terrible person.
