The official announcement video for Ancient Magus Bride Season 2, which was streamed by the official YouTube channel of Twin Engine on Sep 5, 2022, contained comments from the cast and staff working on the anime along with its teaser.

“Now that Season 2 will be broadcast, there will be more characters appearing in the college compared to Season 1. I think it will be a little more lively and have a slightly different atmosphere,” Ryota Takeuchi, the voice actor of Elias Ainsworth in the anime, said.

“For Season 2 things changed completely. The setting will be in London, and this time it will be an ensemble drama,” Director Kazuaki Terasawa said.

The character development of Chise Hatori in the upcoming season too was touched upon in these comments.

As more characters join the mix, Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Chise in the anime, wanted to see how she will react when she comes in contact with everyone around her.

“One of the highlights is that Chise will be involved with more people than ever before. I wonder how Chise will react when she comes into contact with everyone as she grows up. I hope to act her out while feeling it on the spot,” Tanezaki said.

Terasawa gave more insights into Chise’s arc in Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2, saying the heroine will finally turn into a protagonist.

“The main character is Chise, but the growth that will be portrayed is the kids in the college. Chise is on the side to help everyone this time. [She] becomes the protagonist from the heroine,” Terasawa said.

Additionally, the character is also said to have expressions, which were not seen in the previous season of the anime.

The plot of Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 will follow Chise, who will be attending college in London. The second season has a release date of April 2023.

Studio Kafka is in charge of animating the second season. The cast from previous season of the anime too will be reprising their roles in the sequel.
