Two people have been confirmed dead after a bus overturned and caught fire on an expressway in the central Japanese city of Nagoya.

At around 10:15 am on Monday, August 22, 2022, police received an emergency call from an individual saying they could see “black smoke and fire” on the Komaki route out of the Nagoya Expressway in the Kita Ward of Nagoya. According to the Aichi Prefectural Police’s expressway patrol unit and other sources, a pile-up occurred and the large bus overturned and caught fire.
